We all know it: waste doesn’t take a vacation. And neither do we—at least, not when it comes to taking care of the environment. That’s why we’re rolling up our sleeves with WASTEREDUCE, the Interreg Italy-Croatia project aimed at reducing waste in protected areas, including along our beloved Brenta River.

The Brenta is one of the three pilot sites of the project, along with the Istrian coast and Sakarun Bay in Croatia. Here, smart strategies to measure, prevent, and reduce the impact of waste are being studied—and tested in the field. Spoiler: it works better when we do it together.

Who said public services can’t rock? ETRA has joined forces with BAM! this year, and we instantly found common ground—and shared excitement—for doing things together. ETRA S.p.A., a proudly Venetian multi-utility company, is proving that even waste management can be fascinating. And no, it’s not just because of the colorful bins.

Behind the scenes, ETRA works hard to make waste management smarter, more sustainable, and—above all—more participatory. From small villages to packed squares and public parks during major events, the goal remains the same: less waste, more recycling, and more aware citizens (the kind who don’t toss a can in general waste, to be clear).

SUSTAINABLE EVENTS? ETRA’S GOT IT COVERED (WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM YOU)

Be it a porchetta festival, a music event, or a cyclist gathering, ETRA supports organizers to make each event a little greener. With info materials, collection kits, pop-up recycling stations, and tips on how to make everything run smoothly—without driving volunteers crazy.

Give people the right tools, and they respond: they sort, separate, and dispose properly. Maybe not perfectly every time, but with enthusiasm—and to us, that’s worth its weight in (recycled) gold.
