The Road to BAM! from Vicenza. And a few other good Ideas for riding here

Every year at BAM! we always say the same thing: BAM! doesn’t start when you arrive.

It starts much earlier.
Maybe when you close your bags for the first time, when you choose an itinerary, or when you text a stranger saying: “Want to meet somewhere and ride together?”

That’s why we love seeing connections, shared rides and small moving communities slowly taking shape on the way to Villa Contarini.

This year, it will happen in Vicenza too.

On Friday, June 5 at 4 PM, a special Road to BAM! will leave from Piazza dei Signori, organized together with the Municipality of Vicenza and our friends from Fruscio and veloCittà: a collective ride linking the city’s beautiful architecture with riverside paths, cycleways and secondary roads all the way to Piazzola sul Brenta.

It will be one of those pieces of journey we have always loved at BAM!: different people riding together, crossing the territory slowly, stopping to talk, maybe taking a wrong turn and then finding the road again.

From Vicenza, the route will mostly follow cycle paths and riverside embankments, entering that side of Veneto that you often discover best at human speed: countryside, rivers, small villages, Venetian villas, water roads and landscapes that simply disappear when seen from a car window.

Vicenza will also be a perfect meeting point for those arriving by train: the station is just a few hundred meters from the departure point, and then everyone can ride together towards BAM!.

But honestly, the beautiful thing is that there isn’t just one Road to BAM!.

Over the last few years, Veneto has built an increasingly wide cycling network made not only of major cycling routes, but also local paths, associations, informal groups and communities that are transforming the bicycle into a real way to cross and tell the story of a territory.

Because arriving at BAM! by bike also means this: discovering that a journey is not only about getting from point A to point B, but about creating relationships along the way.

And around Padua too, there are countless cycling routes and roads where you can get lost before or after BAM!.

There’s the Treviso-Ostiglia cycleway, a former railway line transformed into a quiet cycling route through countryside and abandoned stations.

There’s the Brenta Cycle Route, descending from the mountains to the plains through some of the most beautiful landscapes in Veneto.

And then there are the Euganean Hills: ride the ring road around the hills and you’ll pass castles, medieval villages, waterways and the lush nature of the regional park.

There’s the Sile Cycle Route, the Adige route, the roads along the Po River and the Delta, where water always seems incredibly close.

But maybe the truth is that the best road is always the shared one.
